Have you ever lost yourself in a creative activity? While we may consider art to be all about the end result, many artists will tell you that it’s the process that drives them.
The emotional health benefits of art have been widely researched, and applied across therapeutic and rehabilitation settings.
Full immersion in a creative activity involves several areas of our brains. From sensory centres to emotional, memory, and cognition pathways, involvement in art of any kind has a wealth of mental health benefits. It can even light up the pleasure centres of our brains, much in the same way as eating delicious food or being close to loved ones.
Many of us have artistic or creative hobbies that we simply don’t prioritise, as the stresses of work and homelife overwhelm our time.
ZenCloud is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with the creative hobbies you love, and perhaps sample some new ones. All materials, tuition, and the results of your creativity, are covered by your ticket price. Your artwork is yours to take home and enjoy.
Anthony is an award-winning artist, sculptor and craftsman, who specialises in willow weaving and wood carving.
He has worked nation-wide on large scale public artworks and private commissions. He has appeared on the BBC programme ‘Home Is Where The Art Is’, and his carvings are a well-known sight around his home in North Staffordshire.
We are thrilled to have Anthony join us at ZenCloud, where he will guide you through the steps to sculpt your very own piece of willow art; the perfect festival keepsake to add to your home or garden.
Roselyn Snead is an experienced artist, illustrator, and art teacher.
In 2010, she qualified as an MA Art Psychotherapist at the University of Derby, and she now delivers Art for Wellbeing therapeutic courses, as well as individual and group art therapy sessions.
Rose's work is influenced by Shamanic journeying, animal totems, and drumming. She will be showing samples of her work for you to purchase if you wish, as the perfect reminder of your ZenCloud experience.
Rose will be bringing a series of inspirational workshops to the day, connecting you to nature, self-care, and self-love.
Known to be a relaxing and satisfying ritual, the creation of patterns, messages, and mandalas on rocks requires gentle and mindful focus.
Choose to keep your creation, or connect with the legion of Kindness Rocks participants by hiding yours in a public place to bring joy to its finder.
Stimulate your creativity and calm your busy mind, as you express yourself with our Zen Garden.
A simple table-top activity that can be recreated at home, a Zen Garden is a small oasis of tranquillity, where gentle waves and lines are furrowed into sand in harmony with smooth pebbles.
Immerse yourself in this wonderfully mindful and graceful form of active meditation.
Wood slices make beautiful miniature canvases.
Choose whether to embrace the natural grain and imperfections of the wood with delicate paint application, or whether to apply thicker coverage to make a bolder statement.
Completed slices can be displayed decoratively or varnished for use as coasters.
The perfect activity for connecting creativity with nature, Sun Printing involves placing objects such as leaves, feathers, and flowers, onto special paper, and then exposing the paper to natural sunlight.
One of the earliest forms of photography, sun prints, or cyanotypes, are elegantly simple, and easy to master.
